Overlay Sales Specialist, Unified Communications & Collaboration

The Overlay Sales Specialist, UC&C role is for a technology sales specialist overlay to support the sales and account management teams in aggressively growing our UCaaS customer base. The sales specialist will drive adoption of hosted Unified Communications solutions by providing guidance to SMB and enterprise customers across a variety of verticals on the benefits and uses of next generation collaboration solutions. The sales specialist will utilize a value selling methodology to uncover business issues and formulate unique solutions to customer needs, and maximize revenue. Subject matter expertise in the area of Unified Communications and Collaboration with specific focus on cloud based IP Communications services (BroadSoft BroadWorks, IP Trunking, audio/video conferencing) is a requirement. This role will be expected to manage a pipeline and accurately forecast sales bookings on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis. The most critical qualifications for the Overlay Sales Specialist – UC&C role are having a proven track record of success, strong business acumen, high energy and motivation, and the “can-do” attitude to make a difference in a fun, fast paced environment.


This is a quota based position with monthly and annual targets and uncapped earning potential.


Key Responsibilities

  • Meet and exceed revenue/quota goals (monthly/quarterly/annually).
  • Design client-specific, value-based solutions to ensure that sales objectives are attained.
  • Develop and present regular reporting on all your sales activity and results:
    • Leads and Lead Generation Results
    • Pipeline and Forecast
    • Closed-Lost (with explanation)
    • Closed-Won (with defined follow-on opportunities)
  • Collect market intelligence and assess the competition by building a thorough assessment on how to outsell the competition (What products and services they are providing? How do they do things differently? What do we need to do to position ourselves?) for identifying and analyzing new opportunities and WINS.
  • Articulate Allied’s offerings, capabilities and key differentiators.
  • Utilize a consultative approach in verbal, written and in-person communication and lead development.
  • Effectively tailor messages to industry-specific issues and a variety of audiences (IT, functional, business).
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organizations.


Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of three to five years experience in direct UC&C sales or sales overlay roles.
  • Knowledge of technology needs of clients in the SMB market.
  • Demonstrable success closing and/or winning accounts with proven VoIP/Voice subject matter expertise.
  • Demonstrated success in developing sales plans and winning business.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree and/or combination of experience and education.


Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience, uncapped earning potential.
